Colombian Hiking Adventure Tour

Jour 1 : Bogota

Arrival at Bogota El Dorado International airport.

Transfer to your hotel in the Candelaria district and enjoy some free time to explore Colombia´s capital city at your own pace. Here you’ll find modern districts, the historic center, lush green parks and urban architecture.

Overnight at Casa de la Vega hotel in a Standard room.

Jour 2 : Bogota

Transfer to Bogota airport for your domestic flight. Domestic flight to Pereira. Welcome to the Coffee Triangle made up of the departments of Caldas, Risaralda and Quindío. Together these three make up the heart of the Zona Cafetera, or the Eje Cafetero.

Transfer to your hotel in Salento.

Coffee plantation visit. Discover a typical “finca”, where you’ll learn all about about coffee. The coffee production process is as complex and sophisticated as wine! Walk among the coffee trees and learn about the process of harvesting and roasting, before enjoying the a coffee produced on site.

Jour 3 : Salento

Today is dedicated to discovering the villages and the landscapes of the coffee region.

Start the day with a Jeep ride through the green valley of Cocora, then hike among the wax palm trees (Colombia’s national tree).

During the walk, pass through bucolic landscapes, among the wax palms that boarder the crystal clear waters of the Quindio river the impressive backdrop of the peaks of the Western Cordillera. Reach the Acaime reserve where a coffee or an “agua panela” (local drink) awaits you. Get your cameras ready: Acaime is a paradise for hummingbirds!

– Visit Salento: panoramic tour, discover of the local architecture, the bamboo housesand the colorful handicraft shops.

Jour 4 : Salento

Early departure from Salento by Jeep to reach Cocora, a 45 minute drive.

You’ll start your trek 2400m above sea level. Hike to the Paramo de Romales where you’ll take your lunch break.

In the late afternoon arrive your stop for the night: a finca 3700m above sea level.

Overnight in rancheria La Primavera. (Basic confort)

Jour 5 : Los Nevados National Park

Hike departs around 8:00 am after your breakfast.

After an intense hike, reach the summit at 4793m. Take in the unusual landscape, once a snow covered peak.

Start the descent to the finca where you’ll spend a second night.

Distance: 24 km

Overnight in rancheria La Primavera. (Basic confort)

Jour 6 : Cocora Valley

Hike departs around 8:00 to return to Cocora. Discover new places on the way down. You’ll visit the “Laguna de la Virgen” and have lunch at a site called “El Almorzadero.”

Back in Cocora, you’ll travel Salento by Jeep at the end of the afternoon.

Jour 7 : Salento

Transfer between Salento and Pereira. Domestic flight to Santa Marta. Transfer to your hotel in Santa Marta.
Free afternoon in Santa Marta to discover this city on the shores of the Caribbean sea.

Overnight at El Cactus hotel in a Presidential suite room.

Jour 8 : Santa Marta

In the morning, departure for the countryside of Santa Marta to discover the Sierra Nevada. A beautiful day’s hike awaits you, amongst magnificent waterfalls and spectacular landscapes. You will discover the Sierra Nevada flora and fauna as you walk down trails between the mountains and the Caribbean sea…

During the walk a picnic lunch will be provided.

In the late afternoon, return to your hotel.

Jour 9 : Santa Marta

In the morning, departure to Cartagena de Indias on the Caribbean Coast. Transfer to your hotel.

Depart for an adventure in the Getsemani district, a stone’s throw from the walled city… You’ll take walking tour of the streets of this Bohemian district to discover local Colombian food… authentic dishes that Cartageneros love!

Whether you are looking for a snack or something slightly more filling, a healthy appetizer or a sweet dessert, the streets of Cartagena offer everything! This is one of the best ways to get insight into daily life and local culture.

Jour 10 : Cartagena de Indias

Free morning to enjoy Cartagena at your own pace. Transfer to the Cartagena de Indias airport for your international flight home.
