The Caribbean region
In Colombia
Cartagena, Tayrona, Guajira, Providencia
Colombia's Caribbean region stretches along the country's northern coast, between the Caribbean Sea and the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Cradle of Afro-Colombian and indigenous cultures, this region embodies a rich history of Spanish colonization, maritime trade and local resistance. Port cities rub shoulders with isolated territories, still largely inhabited by the Wayuu or Raizales peoples.
