Trek in the National Park of
Sierra Nevada del Cocuy

Transport between Bogota and Guican: approx. 10 hours’ drive. Overnight at Hotel Brisas Del Nevado in a Standard room.

In the morning, we prepare our equipment and check in with the Parc National del Cocuy, setting off to immerse ourselves in the rural world of the mid-mountains. After a 20-minute transfer by vehicle, start of a 4-6 hour walk to Rio Mosco and the Kanwara huts, the starting point of the acclimatization trek. Walking time: 4-5 hours; Ascent: +900 m Overnight in a rural inn.

Early departure for a day’s hike through the spectacular scenery of the Cordillera, always with a view of El Pulpito del diablo , a huge rectangular rock. During the day you can also admire Ritacuba Blanco , the highest point in the region. In the middle of the day you will reach a new ecosystem called the Páramo , consisting of low vegetation in humid terrain. Hiking time: 10 hours; Ascent: +750 m; – 750 m Overnight in refuge.

Morning departure for hacienda La Esperanza by vehicle. Note: 40-minute transfer. Then walk to discover the Pic de l’aigle valley and return to the hacienda at the end of the day. Walking time: 4 to 10 hours depending on the route chosen, to be coordinated with your guide; Elevation gain: +850 m , – 850 m Overnight at hacienda La Esperanza.

Breakfast interspersed with numerous photo breaks to try and get the best possible shots. Departure in the direction of the laguna Grande de la Sierra. On arrival, you will have lunch and then return to Los Herrera where a vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Guican. Half-day tour of Cartagena’s historic center and main cultural sites. We’ll start with the city’s outer fortifications and end with the colonial center: – Convent of La Popa: perched on a hill overlooking the bay, this monastery houses a lovely patio, a colonial museum and a chapel dedicated to the Virgen de la Candelaria – Panoramic view from the San Felipe Barajas castle: at the gateway to the colonial city, this is one of the most formidable bastions ever built by the Spanish army. The view over the city is impressive. – Discover the colonial center on foot, including the Clock Tower, San Pedro de Claver church and the districts of San Diego and Santa Domingo. Transfer from your hotel to the port of Cartagena. Take a boat to the Rosario archipelago. Check into your hotel on one of the twenty islands and islets in the national park. Relaxing stay in the heart of the Rosario islands. Note 1: approx. 1 hour sailing time (departure around 09:00) Note 2: on arrival at Cartagena port, you will be required to pay port tax (19,500 COP to date). Transfer from the port of Cartagena de Indias to your hotel.
