Jour 1 :

Bogota

Arrival at Bogotá’s El Dorado international airport, at an altitude of 2,640 m. Transfer to your hotel in the Candelaria district and end of the day free to enjoy the Colombian capital at your leisure, with its mix of modern neighborhoods and historic center, urban architecture and verdant parks. Overnight at Hotel Casa Legado in a standard room.

Jour 2 :

Bogota

Depart by bike for the Paloquemao market, where you can sample exotic flavours and shop for Bogotanos’ favourite dish, before discovering Bogotá’s newest phenomenon: graffiti. In recent years, the city’s walls have been transformed into canvases, giving graffiti artists a boundless playground. On this tour, you’ll discover some of the finest works ever produced, some of them gigantic, but always with a very strong message. Some artists are even paid by the city for their work and sign their pseudonyms: Toxicomano, DJ LU or Lesivo for the best-known. Note: the order and content of the activities are given as a guide, depending on the day of the week. Half-day visit to a unique project: Latin Latas, a Colombian music group that builds its instruments from recycled materials.

You’ll discover the energy of Bogotá’s youth through this unusual and comprehensive workshop: – a show by Andrea Latas, leader and singer of the group, – a short explanation of the project: Latin Latas is also an educational project on the environment and responsible consumption practices, – a playful musical instrument creation workshop with decoration and painting of the instruments: you’ll have the opportunity to make your own handcrafted instrument and decorate it to your taste! Jour 3 :

Chingaza

Departure for Chingaza, on the outskirts of Bogotá. Covering 76,000 hectares, this natural park is home to a wide variety of plant and animal species (Andean condor, spectacled bear). During the hike, you’ll enjoy a rich ecosystem, between sacred lagoons (Siecha and Guasca are important sites in Muisca mythology) and frailejones (typical high-altitude shrubs, above 3,000 metres). Note 1: approx. 5-hour round trip.

Jour 4 :

Bogota - La Vega

Drive from the capital to the boutique hotel La Nuit. On the way, stop off at the village of San Francisco and discover the enchanted hummingbird garden at the village gates. Jour 5 :

La Vega - Honda

On the way to Honda, you can stop off at the village of Guaduas, one of the 13 historic centers declared a national monument by the Colombian government in 1959. On the way back to Honda, you can stop off at the Pierra Capilar viewpoint, where you can see the Magdalena river and the 3 Nevados peaks in clear weather. Arrive in Honda, the country’s first river port and a city rich in history. Check-in at hotel. Note: approx. 3-hour drive Visit Honda, considered one of Colombia’s historic cities. Jour 6 :

Honda - Pereira

On the way to Pereira, stop off at the Tierra Negra vivero nursery, one of Colombia’s largest. You can also stop off at the Medina waterfalls. Note: Between 5 and 6 hours’ drive Note 2: Entrance to the waterfalls not included. Overnight at Hotel Sazagua in a Standard room.

Jour 7 :

Finca la Mina

Lilia, Gabriel, Karen and Gelen open the doors of their small traditional finca perched in the coffee hills between Manizales and Pereira. On site, you’ll have the opportunity to walk among the coffee trees, be introduced to the harvesting and roasting processes, before tasting the beverage produced on site. An authentic and convivial experience shared with a family of local farmers, passionate about their craft and their history. A typical lunch will be served at the end of the tour. Jour 8 :

Cocora Valley - Salento

A day dedicated to discovering the villages and landscapes typical of the coffee region. On the program, a Willys tour through the verdant Cocora Valley and a hike among the wax palms (Colombia’s national tree). Then you’ll head off to discover the avocado plantations of the Cocora Valley. We’ll explain everything you ever wanted to know about avocados. You’ll also enjoy a tasting of their best selection. Lunch break in a magnificent traditional hacienda. In the afternoon, visit the village of Salento: panoramic tour, discovery of local architecture and typical bamboo constructions (guadua). Return to your hotel in the late afternoon. Transfer from Salento to Glamping Entre Rios. Note: Glamping Entre Rios is located in a remote area, which is what makes it so beautiful. Allow 2 hours’ drive during the day to reach the various locations. Overnight at Glamping Entre Rios in a Superior tent.

Jour 11 :

Minca

Early departure for Minca, 20 km south of Santa Marta, for early morning birdwatching. Half a day dedicated to birdwatching in the Sierra Nevada. This day is designed for beginners and experienced birdwatchers alike. You will be accompanied by an ornithologist guide. Jour 12 :

Santa Marta - Pueblo Viejo - Cartagena

Transport between Minca and Santa Marta. Early in the morning, drive to Cartagena de Indias via the Cienaga, one hour from Santa Marta. Stop at the village of Pueblo Viejo, from where you’ll explore the great Cienaga de Santa Marta, Colombia’s largest body of water, in a small boat. By boat, you’ll visit the lakeside village of Nueva Venecia, where you’ll meet the locals, whose main source of income is fishing. This village of 2,000 inhabitants is impressive. It has its own school, police station and even a soccer pitch on the water. On the way, explore the mangrove swamps and observe the many species of birds, some of them migratory, that inhabit the Cienaga. Continue on to Cartagena and end the day free to discover the unrivalled charm of this superb colonial city, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Jour 13 :

Cartagena

Today we invite you to meet a community of farmers in a village on the border between the departments of Atlantico and Bolivar. This project is supported by Terra Colombia, and your visit will contribute to its development. Arrive in the village of Los Limites and meet the project’s volunteers. The association’s aim is to promote agroforestry agriculture in order to generate new sources of income for the inhabitants. You will have the opportunity to visit these plots of land, and to discuss the project with the people in charge. The land is also home to a large primary jungle nature reserve, where you can observe howler monkeys and other wildlife. Finally, you’ll meet a local woman who makes jams from the fruit grown on the plots. Lunch on site. Note 1: about an hour’s drive from Cartagena. Note 2: it’s possible to spend the whole day on site if you wish. Please consult us. Free afternoon to enjoy Cartagena’s many attractions. You can visit the historic city at your own pace and enjoy its unique atmosphere, discover the modern district of Bocagrande, store for handicrafts in Las Bovedas, take a day trip to relax in the Rosario Islands, admire the sunset from the city walls. Jour 14 :

Cartagena

The village of La Boquilla is home to many families of African origin, descendants of emancipated slaves, whose main source of income is fishing. There are two major lagoons: the Cienaga Juan Polo and the Cienaga de la Virgen . Different species of fish can be caught, and fishermen use their own traditional techniques to do so! The fishermen of La Boquilla are waiting to take you on board their traditional canoes. The guide will help you communicate with them. For around 2-3 hours, you’ll fish in the lagoons. They will explain how to use a fishing line, how to organize a net and how to set traps to catch shrimps and crabs… Finally, you will return to land with your catch and go to one of the fishermen’s houses to cook and eat together… Note 1: don’t forget to bring a hat, sun protection and mosquito repellent. Morning at leisure to enjoy Cartagena’s many attractions. You can visit the historic city at your own pace and enjoy its unique atmosphere, discover the modern district of Bocagrande, store for handicrafts in Las Bovedas, take a day trip to relax in the Rosario Islands. Transfer to Cartagena de Indias airport for your international flight.
