As the days go by, you first cross the Cocora Valley and its giant palm trees, before reaching the flanks of the Tolima while enjoying the varied ecosystems of the Andes (paramo, lagoons, rainforests, pastures, snow-capped peaks…).*This trip is an inspiration to be integrated into a complete tour.

Early departure (around 6:30am) from Salento by Willys jeep to Cocora, a 45-minute drive away. After a safety and equipment check, you begin your trek. Starting point 2400m altitude. Hike to the Paramo de Romales, where you’ll take your lunch break. The páramo is an endemic biotope of the Andean region, found at the boundary between forests and eternal snows. Late afternoon arrival at the finca, at 3700m altitude, which will be your stopover for the night. Overnight in a high-altitude refuge at La Primavera finca (basic comfort).
Los Nevados National Park
After breakfast, you’ll set off on your hike at around 8:00 a.m. After a well-earned lunch break at altitude, you’ll reach the summit at 4793m. This summit was once covered in snow, which is what gives it its unusual appearance today. Then you begin the descent to the finca where you’ll spend a second night. Distance: 24 km Overnight in a high-altitude refuge at the finca La Primavera (basic comfort).
Los Nevados National Park
Depart for Cocora around 8:00 am. The route is different for the descent, and you’ll discover the « laguna de la Virgen » and have lunch at the site known as « El Almorzadero ». Back in Cocora, you’ll reach Salento by Willys Jeep in the late afternoon.
