The coffee region. « El eje cafetero » in Spanish. We used to live and work in this region, and we’re delighted to be able to show it off to others. We know it well.The region’s richness lies in its natural diversity:coffee fields as far as the eye can see, banana and guadua (bamboo) cultivation, vast green and undulating landscapes, wax palms, glaciers and volcanoes, Paramo vegetation, colobris and barranqueros… Its particularity lies in its strong cultural identity.
what makes it special is its strong cultural identity: trout with patacons, the music that makes villages dance every Sunday, the traditional means of transport still in use (jeep willys and chivas), the colorful houses built of guaduas, the sombrero and pancho that accompany the men every day…What makes it beautiful is the kindness of the people.The whole country recognizes it: the region’s inhabitants have their hearts in their hands. Composed of 3 departments, the eje cafetero is known for its must-sees: the Cocora valley with its tall wax palms, the discovery of the coffee process, and visits to its typical villages. Today, it’s with new eyes, fascinated by the natural grandeur of the region, that we invite you to let yourself be carried away!
