Why choose when you can discover Colombia and Panama on the same unusual trip? Your stay begins with a visit to Mongui and the surrounding area in Sugamaxi province. You’ll sleep in a glamping site with a breathtaking view of Lake Tota. You’ll then set off on a safari in the savannahs of the Llanos region, where you’ll come close to some surprising wildlife. Return to Bogotá and take off immediately for Panama City. After visiting the Panamanian capital, you’ll head for the magnificent islands of Bocas del Toro to finish your stay with your feet in the water.

Arrive at Bogotá’s El Dorado international airport, at an altitude of 2,640 m. Transfer to your hotel in the Candelaria district and spend the rest of the day at your leisure, enjoying the Colombian capital’s mix of modern neighborhoods and historic center, urban architecture and verdant parks. Half-day visit to Bogota: – the Cerro de Monserrate, for a breathtaking view of Bogota and the surrounding area. Perched at an altitude of 3,152 metres, the Sanctuary (accessible by cable car or funicular) is a place of pilgrimage, particularly popular on religious feast days. – The Candelaria district, Bogotá’s historic and cultural center, which has retained its authentic colonial atmosphere; along the cobbled streets, you’ll discover colourful facades, beautifully carved wooden balconies and Baroque churches. – The Gold Museum, one of the most dazzling on the continent. Nearly 34,000 pieces of gold are on display, making it the world’s largest collection of pre-Hispanic goldsmiths’ and silversmiths’ work, in honor of the Quimbaya, Taironas, Muiscas and Tolimas civilizations. *Note 1: the order and content of the activities are indicative and depend on the day of the week (Gold Museum closed on Mondays).*

Paramo de Sinscunsi
Early departure for the Paramo de Siscunsi. The paramo (from the Spanish *páramo*, plateau, moor) is a high-altitude neotropical biotope found between 3000m and 4000m in the Cordillera de los Andes, between the forest limit and the eternal snows.
Stroll through this spectacular vegetation, admiring the beautiful frailejones (plants with silvery leaves) and arriving at the laguna de Siscunsi at 3700 m. *Note: walking time varies from 30 min to 4 hours, depending on your preferences and physical condition. Mongui
You’ll take the road to the Paramo d’Oceta, one of Colombia’s best-preserved paramos. The paramo (from the Spanish páramo, plateau, moor) is a neotropical high altitude biotope found between 3000m and 4000m in the Andes Cordillera, between the forest limit and the eternal snows.
In the afternoon, visit various villages in the province of Sugamuxi in the Boyaca department: On the program: - Mongua: the village revolves around its main square. Here, you can visit the small archaeological museum explaining the history of the Muisca community in the region. The village is also famous for its coffee-making. Topaga: the village is famous for its charcoal workshops. Watch as men and women carve this black rock into original pieces. Also, enter the church, which is one of the few to have a statue of a devil on its ceiling. - Mongui: a Boyaca village and one of the Villages of Colombian Heritage. Stroll through cobbled streets and colonial houses, visit churches including the Basilica de Nuestra Señora in Mongui, and cross the Bridge of Calicanto. Mongui is also famous for its footballs, and you’ll visit the workshops where they are hand-sewn. - Nobsa: Nobsa’s speciality is its hand-woven wool crafts. Laguna Tota
Depart for the Laguna de Tota. 12 km long and 6 km wide, this is Colombia’s largest freshwater lake, at an altitude of 3,000 m. Get your cameras ready! Get your cameras ready, you’ll arrive on the heights of the lake with a superb panoramic view! Then take the road that runs alongside the lake. Playa Blanca is an ideal place to take a break, walk by the lake and, for the more courageous, take a swim. Afternoon free to enjoy the village of Mongui. Yopal
Drive to Yopal, gateway to the vast Llanos plains at the foot of the Andes. The landscape changes dramatically as you descend from the mountains into the savannah.

Explore the nature reserve and meet the local wildlife: deer, water pigs, howler monkeys and giant anteaters. Panama city
Your driver will pick you up for a one-day city tour of Panama City. Services of a private English-speaking guide and driver’s expenses included (meals, transportation, lodging, excursions, etc.). First stop: Panama La Vieja, the country’s first capital before it was destroyed by the notorious pirate Henry Morgan, followed by the must-see Panama Canal and Miraflores Locks. The visitors’ center offers a bird’s-eye view of all kinds of ships in transit (container ships, liners, tiny sailing boats…), while exhibitions retrace the history of the locks’ construction and describe how they work. Then on to Casco Antiguo. This bohemian district plunges you into the country’s historic past, with its typical alleyways and colorful buildings leading to the Place de France. Discover the art-deco architecture and the cathedral. In the late afternoon, transfer to your hotel. Note 1: Panama La Vieja site closed on Mondays. Note 2: the visit to the Miraflores locks is scheduled according to when the boats pass through. Located in the Casco Viejo district, Tantalo is a trendy, modern restaurant-bar-rooftop featuring Asian and local fusion cuisine. Transfer from Tocumen International Airport to Gelabert (Albrook) airport for your domestic flight Note: depending on your flight schedule, plan to spend the night in Panama City. Flight to the Bocas del Toro archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean. Note: Please note that baggage weight is limited (approx. 14 kg per person for hold baggage and 2 kg for cabin baggage). Bocas del Toro
Clean-up dive You’ll dive from the dock in the center of Bocas del Toro, with the aim of collecting as much garbage as possible from the seabed. Any active certified diver can take part (if a diver hasn’t dived for a long time, he or she can do a refresher dive with us so as to be able to take part in the clean-up). All necessary equipment and guides. The tour is free, but a minimum donation of $10 is required to maintain the buoys that mark the dive sites (so you don’t have to drop anchor), or to donate it to an environmental NGO (usually Project Aware or Sea Turtle Concervancy). The waste collected is sorted and counted, then passed on to Project Aware, which manages a worldwide database of underwater clean-up operations. Bocas del Toro
You first visit the sloth island to observe the sloths, then continue south of Bastimentos Island to enter the mangroves via a canal. After about 5 minutes inside the canals, you arrive in the Ngöbe village of Salt Creek. You’ll visit the village with a local guide who will explain their customs and way of life. You can choose between 4 different trails to discover the local flora and fauna with the guide. A 1-hour round trip through the jungle, easy access, a 2.5-hour round trip to discover medicinal plants with the healer, a 3-hour walk to the pelican beach and a 4-hour jungle trail to playa larga beach.
Option to visit the town only for 1h, then enjoy Salt Creek beach. Typical lunch option ($8/person).
